Jan. 1, 2019 the Trump administrations enacted a 25 percent tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese imported goods, including furniture, lighting and home decor. As I head to the Dallas winter market, I need to contend with this as I meet vendors. In reaching out to manufacturers, it has been asked of their 2019 plans. Many have replied they cannot absorb the 25 percent and will need to increase their prices. Anything domestically manufactured will not see these increases. As I understand it when tariffs are discussed, it is not so much hurting China but getting income from American companies who set up offices or factories in China to avoid paying taxes. I only know we just have to deal with it and hope and pray things will get better.
We are committed to giving our customers exceptional value through outstanding service and quality products at competitive prices. In order to cover part of the manufacturing costs that include rising cost of raw materials, labor, freight and other operational costs, price increases will be inevitable. As always we will continue doing our best to limit the impact to you our treasured customer.
This is another reason to take advantage of our continuing year end sale. Items are being reduced 50 to 75 percent at Nancy B’s. These items are on display and we will take them down for you; no need to have to wait for them to come in and no freight charges to incur. We need to make room for new, exciting, fresh lighting coming our way in the next few months so making room is imperative.
