Happy New Year! The past year seems to have flown by and the new year is off to an exciting leap. We saw many changes in the lighting industry in 2017, especially the acceptance, confidence and use of LED lighting (light-emitting diodes). We now know we can rely on the color temperatures (Kelvins) of LED’s to make food look appetizing and us look good and feel good like the good ole incandescent bulbs we loved and continue to thank Thomas Edison for inventing.

We’ve also learned that Traditional and Contemporary are not the only styles available. We now use terms like Transitional, Modern, Modern Rustic, Farm House, Coastal to name a few. The incorporation of textures like brick, granite, wood, metal produce richness and complexity and many of these items are seen in light fixtures. As we ponder and say goodbye to 2017 and say hello to 2018, we embrace the many changes and opportunities we will have.

I will be attending the Dallas Lighting Market “Lightovation International Show” this month and am anxious to see all the new lighting available. We will certainly be bringing in new product in our lighting showroom; Nancy B’s House of Lights and telling you all about it. Brrrrrr, stay warm!
