While we are all coping with the Covid 19 Virus, let’s think of how we can save energy and dollars in the next few months of warm temperatures and happier times to come. Now is the time to consider the purchase of fans. It’s time to replace the fans that are making that annoying clicking sound or wobble. Fans work hard to move the air and keep us cool and sometimes work themselves to death. Let them retire and consider a new fan that will not only work hard but will complement your home’s decor. A fan can make a fashion statement or be a work of art. Let’s be creative. My favorite fan of all time was the Regency fan. They have now become Hinkley fans and offer the same quality as before. We also offer Fanimation, Minka Aire, Quorum, Craftmade, Progress, Wind River, Vaxcel and Monte Carlo.
So many finishes and styles are available, wall fans, ceiling fans with and without lights, flush-mounted fans known as huggers, damp and wet located fans and remote-controlled fans. Fans with the DC motor use 70% less energy than an AC motor and runs cooler and quieter and has a longer life. All of the fans we offer are UL listed and have been tested by Underwriters Laboratories and found to be compliant with accepted national safety standards. Many of our fans are supplied with fully integrated LEDs and drivers. Our wet rated fans can actually be used in direct splash by a sprinkler or for outdoor direct rain.
The terminology CFM (cubic feet per minute) is used to achieve the optimum airflow output of a fan. It calculates the operating cost and energy expenditure of your fan. If you want great airflow, look for a fan with a CFM rating of 5,000 or higher.
Fans now have far more options than pull chain to operate. Look for optional accessories to make your fan WiFi compatible for smartphone control and integrate with home devices like Alexa and Google Assistant for voice activation.
There are important features for quiet operation. The bearings are double-sealed, lubricated and high grade. Capacitors control the speed of the fan and a separate one is for each speed. Single capacitor fans can be three-speed but often hum. Vibration Isolators are used with the highest quality rubber hang-bracket isolators, motor gaskets and blade-screw washers for quiet operation.
We suggest a blade sweep of 27″, 36″ or 42″ in a room 6 x 8 or 40-60 sq. ft. A blade sweep of 44″ in an 8 x 10 room or 70-90 sq. ft. A sweep of 52″ in a room 10 x 12 or 100-150 sq. ft. and a 56″ 60″ or larger in a room 12 x 15 or over 160 sq. ft. You will want to take the ceiling height into consideration regarding a down rod and the pitch of the ceiling if a sloped adapter is needed.
