  • Happy 2023!

Saying farewell to 2022 and filled with hope for 2023 makes my heart sing.  Yes, we’ll have some challenges, maybe disappointments, but also the excitement of new adventures and anticipations of great things is on the horizon. The Industry experts anticipate a year of calming hues and warm neutrals which sounds nice, wouldn’t you agree?

Sherwin Williams, Behr, and Benjamin Moore have announced their signature colors for 2023: Reddened Point and Blank Canvas. They report that 2022 was all about natural motifs and hues. New trends in hues are led by the warm tones of orange, terra cotta and apricot, staying away from the family of greens. Citrus tones add extra zest to our spaces and this energizing shade is perfect for any home accent. Other pops of bright coral along with warm marigold yellow and rust are coming into play. The rust-like reds work great when paired with wood and leather.

Houzz reports that burgundy and pale pinks bring in the softness people are seeking in their interiors. Research conducted by Behr Paint say their new color Blank Canvas is a warm white. White makes us feel positive and lowers stress levels, promotes relaxation, and creates a sense of calm and renewal and is mood-boosting.

That’s a lot of research. They report that beiges and browns are making a comeback and that gray is an industry staple. I don’t speak the language of many designers and often have a hard time with their palettes, but I will say some of the citrus colors are most pleasing to the eye. I think paint colors are like lipstick shades, it’s all about the mood we’re in.
