    Tariff Effects on Residential Lighting

Tariffs are on all our minds of late; a necessary evil, if you will. And this is forcing our lighting vendors and us along with all stores to have to increase prices. Our vendors are now saying prices will increase 20% across the board. A very hard pill to swallow, but I do believe to be short lived.

Tariff Effects on Residential LightingI remind myself to breathe in and breathe out and remain calm. Not an easy thing to do for someone who is a type A+. The good news: our vendors are looking elsewhere for manufacturing, places like Canada, Japan, Vietnam, and India and who knows, maybe the US will one day be back in the manufacturing business. Until then, we must endure.

In the 80s, my husband and I had a ladies clothing manufacturing plant and store with 55 employees. We provided ladies and girls clothing for many department stores and boutiques across the country. When China came on the scene, we could not compete. China made it possible for businesses to buy for far less and this caused many small shops in the US to close, and we were one of them. Many of our employees made wages far exceeding the service industry and then their jobs were gone.

It is our intention to buy smartly and keep you, our customer in mind. Two of our vendors Hanover and Framburg are made in the good ole US, we just wish more.

Lets allow the good news of Easter to keep us focused on hope and faith that all will be fine.
